In this webinar Madalene will share research about how adverse childhood experiences affect our society, as well as the human brain and central nervous system. She will describe the ways trauma histories and trauma responses change human behavioral responses. She will identify positive childhood experiences that have been shown in research to increase resilience for persons with histories of trauma.

About the presenter
Madalene Rutherford OTD, OTR/L is a preschool occupational therapist based in Central Pennsylvania. She lives in Lewistown, Pennsylvania with her pets Bay, Bo, and Blu. She helps students (and families) in special education classrooms who struggle with fine motor skills, self-care skills, sensory processing skills, and mental health. She graduated from Elizabethtown College with a Master's of Science in Occupational therapy in 2019. She will graduate with an Occupational Therapy Doctorate in May 2023 from Misericordia University. When she's not nerding-out about neuroscience or psychology, she enjoys hiking, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her loved ones (and four-legged companions).
