Learn how to help young children and their families cope with the struggles of sensory processing disorder in their daily activities of life. You will develop a repertoire of practical sensory solutions for infants and toddlers, which address challenges specific to the sensory systems. Sensory strategies will target difficulties in childhood occupations such as playing, eating, sleeping, bathing, and dressing. Participants will learn techniques such as how to calm a fussy infant, proper swaddling, mealtime “food rules”, and more. Help parents feel hopeful and empowered in helping their young child with sensory challenges.
Course Objectives: 1. Understand and identify signs of sensory dysfunction in infants and toddlers; 2. Develop a collection of sensory solutions for young children with SPD that you can assimilate into your therapy practice; 3. )Integrate sensory interventions aiding infants and toddlers with developmental skills such as playing, eating, sleeping, bathing, and dressing.
Jenny L. Clark, OTR/L has helped children for over 30 years as a licensed pediatric occupational therapist, working as a speaker, school-based occupational therapist, consultant, private practitioner at her own clinic (Jenny’s Kids, Inc.), independent contractor for early intervention services, author, and inventor. Jenny is an Advanced Mentored Clinician in sensory processing disorder from the STAR Center. She held AOTA Board Certification in Pediatrics with the American Occupational Therapy Association. Jenny received certification from Aura Wellness Center as a Kids Yoga Teacher in July 2017. Jenny is the creator of the Letter Treasure Hunt handwriting game (Therapro 2014).
