Telehealth for Pediatric OT and PT in School-Based Practice presented by Jenny L. Clark, OTR/L
November 3, 2020 - 7:00PM - 8:30PM EDT
Webinar description
Telehealth is an alternative service delivery model that pediatric occupational therapists and physical therapists can use in school-based practice for implementing therapeutic interventions and conducting evaluations. Research supports the efficacy of telehealth in pediatric OT and PT practices. This form of providing pediatric therapy services comes with a unique set of challenges. Therapists new to this delivery model need to be equipped with practical information on how to effectively implement synchronous therapeutic interventions and conduct virtual pediatric OT and PT evaluations. Pediatric therapists will learn how to utilize telehealth to evaluate clinical observations, motor skills, sensory processing, and occupational performance, using telehealth techniques that can be utilized in an online format. In this presentation, pediatric OT’s and PT’s will learn teletherapy delivery models for one-on-one sessions as well as group sessions. Therapists will develop a ready-to-implement list of teletherapy activities using everyday common objects that they can put to practice immediately for use in real-time teletherapy sessions. A variety of case studies will be examined to help attendees learn how to implement a pediatric telehealth progressive plan of care to achieve effective results.
Learning Objectives: 1. Examine the foundation of telehealth practices for pediatric occupational therapists and physical therapists; 2. Learn effective methods to perform a pediatric evaluation utilizing a telehealth platform; 3. Implement creative problem-solving strategies to address unique circumstances that occur when conducting online therapy; 4. Develop a repertoire of therapeutic activities for teleintervention with limited resources.
