The I Can Work! Curriculum is a 5-module course designed to integrate communication skills with hands-on prevocational training in the areas of job readiness, clerical, retail, food service, and the grocery industry. This differentiated, hands-on curriculum utilizes visual supports and data collection systems all designed to build a strong, consistent, pre-vocational foundation for all individuals. This in-depth webinar is designed to introduce and break down step-by-step Module 3: Retail. The retail module presents the second step in a multi-layered process for introducing and educating young adults in the area of vocation and is the second of 4 modules to contain hands-on, activity-based plans. Module 3 focuses on retail-related vocabulary, jobs related to a retail environment, as well as tasks such as sizing and pricing merchandise, folding and hanging merchandise as well as cashier skills.
Learning Objectives: 1. Participants will learn how to facilitate and adapt a range of vocationally focused Module 3: Retail lesson plans and activities to meet the range of needs for all individuals; 2. Participants will learn how to implement role playing activities and video modeling related to Module 3: Retail work-focused situations; 3. Participants will learn how to consistently and effectively track a variety of hands-on, pre-vocational retail activities paired with reflection.
