Conversation Cubes can be used to spark conversation among students or to play a get-to-know-you game. The hands-on activities will give students the opportunity to learn more about each other and have fun! A great therapy tool for:
Sparking discussions and personal responses from your students
Building speaking and listening skills between students
Supporting fluency in ELLs
Age: 6+
How To Use It: Suggested Activities:
Ice Breaker: Have a group of students or the whole class sit in a circle. Pass out the cubes to six different students. Have one of the students roll the cube, read the side that faces up, and share their answer. The student should pass the cube on and another student with a cube should roll. Continue until everyone has had a turn.
Conversation Starter: Split the class into six groups and give each group a cube. Have one person in the group roll the cube and respond. The rest of the group should carry on the conversation by asking more questions or providing answers. Give the groups 1 minute for each roll. It is ok if conversation diverts from the original subject.
Get to Know Your Partner: Give two students all six cubes or give pairs of students a couple of cubes each. Partners will switch off rolling a cube. Both students will provide their answers. Partners should discuss how the answers are similar or different. Allow them to discuss the answers further if they wish.
