The I Can Work!® Workbooks accompany the I Can Work!® Curriculum. A critical component of this work skills curriculum is the collection of data that is typically stored in a portfolio. These Workbooks are a valuable substitution for the portfolio:
They keep the data collection in one place, which the individual directly writes in
The facilitator can refer to them when in an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meeting or parent conference as well as when planning for transition to the workforce
They can be passed on to the Case Manager when transitioning to another program, allowing for consistency as well as growth in areas already introduced and developed
The Workbooks include 2 sections:
1. Module Worksheets and Job Related Words
Worksheets are from each of the 5 Modules
Once the Worksheet is completed, it becomes a Data Work Sample for future reference
The Job Related Words serve as reminders of what a job entails as the worksheet is completed
2. Reflections on Jobs Completed
Following each pre-vocational activity, a reflection about the job is recorded on q form
This self-reflection is critical for success in future employment opportunities.
The Text Workbook is for readers and the Picture Supported Workbook is for non-readers. They contain the same information, but in different formats. Choose whichever one you think will best meet the needs of your student and encourage independent learning.
