In this webinar, Laurie shares creative and resourceful tips and techniques to use during push-in therapy or during virtual groups. Examples of collaborative consultation will be given with the focus on building teacher’s capacity to support treatment strategies. Although the focus is on gross motor skill acquisition, Occupational Therapy professionals will also find her fresh ideas and activities very useful in their settings.
Learning Objectives: 1. Recognize that young children are kinesthetic learners and learn best through movement and active learning opportunities; 2. Identify the benefits from being actively engaged in gross motor games and push-in activities and how all early learning domains are interconnected; 3. Develop new ways to re purpose games and activities into therapeutic tools.
About the presenter
Laurie Gombash, PT, M.Ed. has been a physical therapist for thirty five years with the last twenty five years in the public school-setting in Northwest Ohio. Laurie is an innovator and an entrepreneur, creating several movement oriented educational products, including The ABC’s of Movement (available from Therapro). She holds a Master’s degree in Special Education and has a knack for modifying games and toys and making them into fun, therapeutic activities.
