Effective therapy for children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) must be guided by the principles of motor learning. But how do you take these principles and apply them to your day to day therapy? How do we make the most of our sessions given the real life complications of time, financial restrain and client motivation? This presentation will provide you with information, helpful suggestions and unique ways to structure your therapy sessions to maximize success.
Learning Objectives:
1. The learner will explore critical thinking used to drive the choice of therapy techniques;
2. The learner will increase understanding of linking therapy materials to practice type of CAS;
3. The learner will increase understanding of techniques and strategies for the treatment of CAS by seeing them used in action;
4. The learner will identify ways to promote generalization outside of the therapy room.

Lisa B. Mitchell M.S., CCC-SLP is a pediatric speech language pathologist, Clinical Director and co-owner of Clearly Speaking, a private practice in Hampton Falls, Dover and Londonderry, NH. She specializes in the treatment and assessment of severe speech sound disorders in children, with a specific interest in Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). Lisa has been recognized for extensive training and expertise in CAS by Apraxia-Kids.
