Overview: Mindfulness, both in practice and as a trait, is trending in the evidence as effective for addressing stress, burnout, anxiety, and a host of other symptoms, which may reduce one's perceived quality of life. Whether in one's professional or parenting role (or both), taking care of individuals with disabilities brings its distinct joys and challenges. This seminar will explore how mindfulness may help navigation of multiple and caregiving roles.
Learning Objectives: Participants will:
Identify the symptoms of stress, burnout and compassion fatigue associated with caregiving and health professions;
Share positive coping strategies and add to tools in one's self-care protocol to mitigate and manage stress;
Evaluate Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), and best practices supporting mindfulness;
Demonstrate awareness of resources for daily living (assessments, books, news, research, social media.)
