AOTA 2016
|
For the 17th year in a row, Therapro exhibited at the AOTA Annual Conference & Expo in Chicago, which began on April 7th. I was reminiscing with Chris Bluhm, Chief Operating Officer of AOTA about the first time Therapro exhibited at AOTA. It was in Boston and was combined with the Canadian OT Association and called the CAN-AM Conference. He reminded me that there was an attendance of about 3200 therapists. Since then, it has grown and this year there was a record breaking 10,000 therapists!

Imagine 10,000 therapists streaming toward our exhibit when the doors opened at the AOTA Conference & Expo Center in Chicago on opening day. Therapro had a prime, front row position that attracted big crowds all 3 days of the conference. Our Therapro team of OTs, including Filomena Connor, Ginger McDonald, Bhanu Raghavan, and Linda Gilles-Zirbes was well prepared for the crowds and calmly greeted all therapists that stopped at the booth offering consultation and introduction to products of interest.
Of great interest were the new revisions of the Therapro Fine Motor Olympics and the Drive-Thru Menus. Fine Motor Olympics is now in color! Oversize cards now show through color photographs children's hands performing grips and grasps that are essential to fine motor development and academic tasks. The Drive Thru Menus, Attention & Strength and Calming and Stress Busting have new illustrations and can now be purchased in an attractive, convenient kit. New cards have been added.
The Therapro-sponsored presentation from Self-Care with Flair authors Ginger and Bhanu drew a large, enthusiastic crowd. We enjoyed sharing the Therapro booth with two other eminent OT authors who were also popular conference presenters: Carolyn Murray-Slutsky, MS, OTR, C/NDT and Betty Paris, PT, MEd, C/NDT. Attendees eagerly sought their books and autographs for Autism Interventions and Is It Sensory or Is It Behavior?
The excitement and energy were electrifying at Therapro's largest exhibit of the year - we can honestly say that it was a sensory-rich experience!
