The Grooved Pegboard Test is a manipulative dexterity assessment tool designed to evaluate visual-motor coordination and fine motor skills. Featuring 25 holes with randomly positioned slots, this test requires individuals to manipulate pegs with a "key" along one side, rotating them to match the hole before insertion. It offers a more complex challenge compared to traditional pegboards, making it suitable for assessing a wide range of manual dexterity abilities. The Grooved Pegboard Test provides valuable insights into an individual's visual-motor coordination and fine motor skills, making it an essential tool for occupational therapists, researchers, and educators.
Age Range: Three batteries of tests have been defined for the normative data obtained:
Adult: Age 15 years and above
Adolescent: Age 9 years to 14 years 12 months
Kiddie: Age 5 years to 8 years 12 months

How to Use It:
Place the pegboard in front of the subject, ensuring it is at the edge of the table with the peg tray immediately above the board.
Explain the test to the subject.
Record the length of time required for each trial, starting when the subject begins the task until the last peg is inserted, or until the test is discontinued (maximum of five minutes per trial).
Note any unintentional drops of pegs during the trial, as well as any deviations from standard assessment procedures.
Score each trial based on the number of pegs correctly placed in the holes, taking into account both time and accuracy.
Perform the test once with the dominant hand and once with the non-dominant hand, summing the scores for a complete assessment of manual dexterity.
