The Kaye Kinder Chair is designed as an adjustable seat that can be used to help ensure the user is positioned properly while sitting.
The firm back and adjustable seat depth help to keep the child's pelvis and femurs in alignment and to maintain the pelvis in the vertical position with trunk extension. The adjustable footrest supports the feet when the chair is in its higher settings such as when it is adjusted to fit under a standard table. This footrest is removable to allow taller children to rest their feet on the floor when the child is in the lower settings. Supporting the feet on the ground or the footrest helps ensure that the child's movements are within the base of support so that the child can move in sitting without fear of falling. The addition of the abductor pad at the distal third of the thighs maintains the alignment of the hips and knees and inhibits adduction and internal rotation. This combined with the seat belt across the pelvis, decreases the tendency for the child to either push or slide out of the chair. The low and high chairs are identical except that the low chair has shorter legs and automatically includes the tray.
The (high) Kinder Chair is tall enough to fit at standard-height tables. The SEAT DEPTH adjusts 7"-12", SEAT WIDTH is 11", BACK ANGLE reclines 10 degrees from vertical, FOOTREST adjusts 3" to 10 ½" below seat, the 2" ABDUCTOR is removable, HEIGHT OF ARMS is 5 ¼" above seat, HEIGHT OF BACK is 13" above seat. The adjustable tray is 19" x 25", with the cutout being 11" wide. CHAIR HEIGHTs from floor to top of arms tests: Low Chair adjusts 14 ¾" to 22", High Chair adjusts 26" to 28 ½".
