The Impact of Personalized Sensory Tool Kits on Adolescents with Mental Illness: How to Assess, Develop and Integrate into Daily Routines
Overview: This presentation describes the process used to integrate individualized sensory kits and sensory-based coping strategies into treatment for adolescents with chronic mental illness in order to improve adaptation and daily occupational performance in areas including education, therapeutic engagement, sleep, and self-care.
Participants will identify the benefits of developing individualized sensory kits to improve occupational performance of adolescents’ with chronic mental illness.
Participants will discuss the use of sensory-based coping strategies to support increased role participation for adolescents with chronic mental illness.
Participants will describe the resulting improvement of ADL’s for adolescents’ with chronic mental illness using sensory-based coping strategies
