Overview: This is the story of an eleven year old boy from Aleppo, Syria who suffered trauma at the age of eight. His bilateral upper limb differences have challenged him, but his spirit and determination have been unwavering. This workshop will present an overview of prosthetic intervention and therapeutic strategies that are allowing him to optimally participate in school, sports and self care activities.
Identify pros and cons of body-powered vs. myoelectric devices;
Discuss options for task/equipment adaptations;
Discuss considerations for skill maintenance through ages/stages, environmental changes and medical interventions.
