Farm To Table: A Comprehensive Group Model of Nutrition and Feeding
Overview: Experience tells us that children can learn to improve feeding skills and meal time behaviors in a group setting. This seminar will discuss the Farm to Table Group, a comprehensive model to improve feeding outcomes with nutrition at its foundation. Participants will explore this family style meal concept which focuses on both peer modeling and therapist demonstrated strategies for improving the variety of foods, sensory motor interactions with food, oral motor feeding skill development, and socialization.
Participants will take home the skills to design, structure, and implement, a sensory based feeding group in a pre-school program or school;
Participants will identify methods to improve nutritional quality and quantity of foods consumed using a peer model feeding group for young children;
Participants will describe how a multi-disciplinary approach to feeding groups, in concert with home programming support improves feeding outcomes.
